ETEC
Development Trust will mark the
end of an era when Chief
Executive Dick Ellison steps
down in August.
Dick will be moving from
Sunderland to Hereford to join
his wife Gwen, who now lives and
works in the city.
Having raised two children in
Sunderland, Dick now plans to
work as a freelance consultant.
Dick will continue his work on
the board of Lifelong Learning
UK – the sector skills council
for the learning sector across
England, Scotland, Wales and
Northern Ireland.
He will also continue to chair
its Community Learning and
Development Panel.
London-born Dick has led ETEC
since it was founded in 1991.
ETEC has just welcomed Hazel
Clark and Peter Monaghan as
trustees to the board.
The Gold
Standard
ETEC
Development Trust has just
achieved an award, recognising
its commitment to staff training
and development.
The charity has gained the
Investors in People Gold
Standard, representing world
class best practice.
Less than 500 organisations
across the UK have achieved the
standard and ETEC is one of the
first in Sunderland.

of ETEC’s Trainee of the Month
Awards have been presented at
two ceremonies.
Christopher Grant was given the
Skills for Life Learndirect
award in December.
Maureen Allan took the honours
in January.
Adam White was named Trainee of
the Month in Skills for Life for
December with Luke Brewerton
taking the honours in January.
Craig Place was given the award
for Trainee of the Month E2E
Construction Routeway in
December.
Jordan Hodgson and Paula Ayre
took the honours in January.
Daniel Coates was given the
Administration/IT award in
December with Hollie Eastwood
taking the honours in January.
Kurt Harding, Michael Little and
Joe White were Trainees of the
Month with Community Decorators
in December.
Graham Scott and Joe White took
the honours in January.
Travis Robson and William
Johnson notched up 100 per cent
attendance in training for the
six months to December 2009.

CARING
FOR THE CARERS
PEOPLE
Into Employment (PIE) has hosted
a prestigious event to launch
the award of the new Carers in
Employment Charter, in
Sunderland.
The event, which took place at
Hudson House, was jointly
organised by Sunderland Carers’
Centre and PIE.
The launch saw the presentation
of a number of Carers in
Employment Charters.
It also saw the presentation of
the Carers in Employment Charter
to the new Charter holding
company.
Charters were presented to ETEC,
Sunderland City Council and
Sunderland City Hospitals, all
holders of the previous charter.
The charter was presented to Age
Concern, Sunderland, for the
first time.
The Charter recognises
organisations, who support
carers to continue working.
ETEC has held the Carers’
Charter for the past 10 years.
