Personal and Social Development

Not everything to do with learning is about academic or vocational development. At ETEC we try to help our learners to develop as people, this can mean learning new things to help young people in life or just in having fun.
	Team building can be fun as these learners found out when they visited Sunderland Fire Brigade

We try to encourage sporting activities as well (some of the staff need the exercise). Every year a game of football takes place between ETEC learners and staff.
On 17 September 2009 the game took place at Hendon Young Peoples Project. Score Learners 9 Staff 6 (The learners won again!)

Red Nose Day

ETEC had a fun day for Red Nose day and they raised £246.

There were a number of different events where staff and learners took part.

This is just one event that took place -
ETEC staff came to work dressed in bad taste.

Cookery Classes

Cookery classes are not all about following recipes, these learners had to decide what they wanted for a meal then work out how they could manage it on a budget. They decided on the ingredients, went shopping for the stuff then put it together for themselves - it wasn't about complicated recipes as the types of ingredients included instant mash potato, jar of Bolognese sauce, batter mix for puddings and even a Swiss roll.
