Advice and Guidance

We can deliver NVQ's in Advice and Guidance at levels 3 & 4 - please contact Gail, John or Alan on (0191) 5146150 for more information.


Are set at 2 levels - Foundation at level 2 and Advanced at level 3.

The apprenticeship programme consists of a framework of qualifications:
  • A study of Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Key or Functional Skills in Maths, English and possibly ICT
  • Technical Certificates (for underpinning knowledge)
  • NVQs
  • .
We are constantly seeking out employers willing to offer the chance of subsidised employment to young people (16-19) on the Apprenticeships programme.

We also offer apprenticeships to employers for their existing adult members of staff who need to improve their qualifications, these can be free of charge for those who meet the eligibility criteria.

Foundation Learning

Intended for young people 16-18 years old who are not quite ready for employment or apprenticeship and are seeking education and training to develop and update skills and experience that will help them to progress in life.

The foundation learning programme offers a tailored suite of accredited courses up to level 1 (or unit accreditation up to level 2) in vocational theory and practice, English, Maths, ICT and personal development.

It is a full-time study of learning at one of our centres and may also include a period of work experience placement with an employer.

Short Courses for Unemployed Adults

The Sunderland City Council have contracted ETEC to provide some short courses for level 2 in Customer Service and  IT (ECDL Extra).  These will be completed by the end of July but we do anticipate offering more courses in the new academic year starting in August.
