The Community Development Team are involved with the delivery of taught courses which include:

• First Steps course - A four week which is aimed at people wanting to find out if community development work is the right area for them to pursue (Topics include understanding meeting, understanding committees, understanding jargon and understanding evaluations).

• Introduction To Community Development Work course – This is a 9 week course which gives more insight into the skills needed to be a community development worker (Sessions include What is community development work, how groups work, involving people, fun evaluations).

We are also a registered assessment centre for Community Development work NVQ’s (National Vocational Qualifications) at levels 2, 3 and 4. Currently we have LSC funding to offer free level 2 and subsidised level 3 NVQ’s in Community Development Work for anyone working or living within the north east who does not already hold a formal qualification in community development work.
