Children's Essential Services

Toy Libraries

ETEC has been contracted by Sunderland City Council to deliver static and outreach toy library services to families, childcare professionals and education professionals across the whole of Sunderland. The service is delivered principally from Sunderland Children’s Centres as well as from a range of community buildings.

Equipment for loan includes dolls, various play sets, wheeled toys, games, puppets, puzzles, play food, books and much more.

Toy library provision is part of the City of Sunderland Council’s Children’s Essentials Service which also involves the sale of a range of arts, crafts and child welfare products from the toy library locations at affordable prices.

From September 2010, CES Workers have also be assisting in the delivery of Play and Learn activity sessions provided by Sunderland Surestart Children's Centres such as Time For Rhyme, Messy Play, Busy Bodies, Stay and Play and Soft Play.

Safety Equipment

A Universal Safety Pack is given to all families with a new birth by Health Visitors at the first home visit. These packs are supplied by ETEC and distributed to the Health Visitor bases on a monthly basis. They contain a room thermometer, bath thermometer, forehead thermometer, choke hazard tester and a height chart displaying child safety messages.
